CTN for Senegal

ECTN stands for Electronic Cargo Tracking Note, a system implemented by several countries to monitor and track cargo movements. In the case of Senegal, the ECTN is mandatory for all shipments arriving at Senegalese ports.

It’s essentially a digital document that provides information about the cargo being transported. This system helps authorities ensure compliance with regulations, prevent smuggling, and streamline customs procedures. If you’re involved in shipping goods to Senegal, you’ll need to comply with their ECTN requirements to avoid any delays or penalties.

As per this law, every cargo bought from abroad and transported for business use needs a Loading Certificate called CTN/BSC – Bordereau de Suivi des Cargaisons. It allows authorities to track, and manage the cargo from the time of loading to discharge. It has details about the exporter, importer, transported goods and their value, freight cost, shipment type, etc.

As with other similar systems in African countries, compliance with the CNCA requirement is essential to avoid delays, fines, or other penalties. Importers or their agents often work with authorized service providers to obtain the CNCA certificate and ensure smooth customs clearance for their shipments to Angola.
